Dear Meatloaf,

I must depart to you how nice it is to hear that my work is touching people as it clearly has you. Welcome to my blog, I trust I will be able to appropriately deal with your query.

Now then, 'What is the price of Fame?'

At first glance, to the untrained eye, the answer to this is simple:

"FAME GROUP RATES
Valid until: 29 Apr 2006
Group size: 10+
Applicable performances: Monday - Friday evening and Saturday matinee.
Standard Group rate: Best available reduced to £17.50.
School/Student rate: Best available reduced to £15.00.
Saturday evening: Full ticket price, £44.50, £40.00, £37.50, £32.50"

However I can't help but feel that this would not satisfy your obviously inquisitive nature. As an experienced PI, I always like to look at my cases from a number of angles. Here, the confusing word is 'fame'. A West End musical it may be, but it can mean so much more.

1. The condition of being famous; celebrity.
Thesaurus: stardom, celebrity.
2. old use
Repute.
Thesaurus: renown, prominence, eminence, repute, esteem, glory, illustriousness, reputation, kudos, honour, credit.

Now as I have been searching for the 'price of fame' it interested me that one of its old meanings is 'credit'. This, to me, acted as the first clue to solving this case.

To be doubly sure I was on the right tracks, I did not dismiss the first definition. Celebrities are also know as Stars so I went looking to see if I could buy some Credit Stars - or at least uncover the price of them. Here are some of the things I found out:

• You can get a Star Wars Credit Card - and if you sign up you will also "receive 3,000 Bonus Galactic Rewards Points". No mention here of how much this will cost you though.
• 'Credit Stars Online' is also known as 'Chase Perfect Cards' - again they seem more intent here to give me money than take it from me.
• You can order your stars by Credit Card - HERE ARE THE PRICES:

Deluxe 25-page reading with my commentary. $50.

Super deluxe reading, your chart in amazing depth - $100.

So, in conclusion, the price of fame would appear to be what you want to pay for it. Indeed in many circumstances, you will be paid for it. As a wise little birdie once told me though, you don't get anything for free in this life. Always read the small print.

Good luck.
